Ben Goldberg

I have been an educator for thirty years, both as an instructor and program coordinator. Professionally, I spent many years at both Santa Monica College and UCLA Extension, focusing on academic writing and communication skills. At UCLA Extension, I helped to run the UNEX Writing Center, where I worked with students one-on-one with their academic essays and college application essays.  

I grew up in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, where I attended Birmingham High School. I graduated from UC Santa Barbara, cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, with a BA in political science, and I earned an MA in International Relations from the University of Chicago. I have lived abroad in both Israel and Japan, and currently live back in the San Fernando Valley with my wife and daughter. Go Dodgers!

Michael Daniels

I have been an educator since 1989. I taught English at UCLA Extension for 12 years, where I helped college-bound students optimize their writing and communication skills. I was a teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District for 11 years, and an instructor at Santa Monica College.

I’ve trained with Christopher Hunt, the premier consultant for Ivy League schools. (CollegeEssayMentor.com) He and I have similar methods to achieve great results for all college applicants.

I was born in New York City and attended the Town School in Manhattan. After moving to Los Angeles at the age of 11, I went to the Mirman School and then to Harvard/Westlake High School. I graduated from UCLA cum laude and went on to get a master’s degree in music from the University of Southern California.

I’ve been a professional musician for 40 years, and my career in opera dovetailed with my time as an educator. I’ve performed with opera companies in Santa Fe, Los Angeles, and Washington DC.

My wife and I live in the Los Angeles area. We have four kids who all successfully navigated the college application process.
